A brand-new Disney Cruise ship is officially on the horizon—and if you’re already thinking about your 2027 or 2028 family vacation, this might be the one to put at the top of your list.
The Disney Believe will set sail on its maiden voyage on December 18, 2027, from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After its inaugural sailing, Disney’s newest ship will offer 4- and 5-night cruises to The Bahamas and 5-night Western Caribbean sailings, with every itinerary including a visit to one or both of Disney Cruise Line’s island destinations.
But the destinations are only part of the reason we’re excited.
Disney Believe is bringing brand-new entertainment, dining and theming to Disney Cruise Line while also incorporating some experiences guests already love aboard other ships.
If you’re deciding where your family should vacation in late 2027 or 2028, here are five reasons we think you should consider booking the Disney Believe.
1. You’ll Be Among the First to Experience Disney’s Newest Cruise Ship
There’s something extra exciting about stepping aboard a brand-new Disney Cruise ship during its inaugural season.
Everything is new, there are experiences you’ve never had the opportunity to try before, and you get to be among the first families to discover what makes this particular ship special.
Disney Believe will become the fourth ship in the Wish class, joining the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny. But while guests who have sailed aboard its sister ships may recognize certain venues and experiences, the Disney Believe is getting an identity all its own.
The ship’s overarching theme centers around characters who believe in themselves, their dreams and the possibilities ahead of them.
Even the ship’s Grand Hall will bring a new Disney story to life.
2. Moana Is Taking Center Stage in the Grand Hall
The moment you step aboard a Disney Cruise ship should feel magical—and Disney Believe’s Grand Hall is shaping up to be absolutely beautiful.
This central gathering space will be inspired by Moana and the meeting of the sky and sea.
At its heart will be a statue of Moana alongside Pua and Heihei, surrounded by design elements influenced by the Pacific Islands and the ocean. Guests can look for details including an ocean-inspired carpet, bioluminescent colors and a chandelier inspired by the movement of the sea—with the Heart of Te Fiti incorporated into its design.
For families who love Moana, this alone is going to make walking onto the ship for the first time pretty unforgettable.
And that’s only the beginning of the Disney stories waiting onboard.
3. You’ll Be Able to See the First-Ever Encanto Stage Musical
Okay, Encanto fans. This is a BIG one.
Disney Believe will be home to “Disney Encanto,” the world’s first stage adaptation of Disney’s Encanto.
The Broadway-style production will be performed exclusively aboard the Disney Believe and bring Mirabel and the Madrigal family to the Walt Disney Theatre.
The show will feature music from the film written by Lin-Manuel Miranda—including favorites such as “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” and “Surface Pressure”—along with elaborate costumes, scenic design and choreography inspired by Colombian culture.
And Encanto isn’t the only major show coming aboard.
Disney Believe will also feature a reimagined version of “Tangled: The Musical” with new set design and special effects created for the ship, along with “Disney Seas the Adventure.”
So your family’s evening entertainment isn’t just something to fill time between dinner and bed.
It could become one of the highlights of your cruise.
4. There Are Brand-New Dining Experiences AND Returning Favorites
Disney Cruise Line is known for making dinner part of the entertainment, and Disney Believe is continuing that tradition.
One of the biggest new additions will expand the world of Frozen with an all-new family dining experience.
Rather than simply creating another restaurant inspired by the movie, Disney is continuing the story and giving families another way to step into the world of characters they already love.
At the same time, Disney Believe will bring back some popular dining experiences from its Wish-class sister ships, including 1923 and Worlds of Marvel.
And that’s something we’re especially excited about with this ship.
You don’t necessarily have to choose between something completely new and the experiences Disney Cruise Line guests already love.
Disney Believe is combining both.
5. Every Sailing Includes a Disney Island Destination
If your dream Disney Cruise involves crystal-clear water, beautiful beaches and a day on a Disney island, you’re in luck.
Every Disney Believe itinerary will visit one or both of Disney Cruise Line’s island destinations: Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
Following its maiden voyage, Disney Believe will sail:
4- and 5-night Bahamian cruises
and
5-night Western Caribbean cruises
from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
We especially love these itinerary lengths for families.
They’re long enough to truly settle into vacation mode and experience what the ship has to offer without necessarily requiring an entire week at sea.
And because the ship sails from South Florida, families could even consider adding time at Walt Disney World before or after their cruise for an unforgettable land-and-sea Disney vacation.
Theme parks AND a brand-new Disney Cruise ship in one trip?
Yes, please.
BONUS: Disney Believe Brings Back Some Serious Fan Favorites
Brand-new experiences are exciting, but Disney Believe isn’t forgetting about the things guests already love.
Disney has confirmed several returning favorites for the ship, including Haunted Mansion Parlor, Worlds of Marvel, 1923, Disney Seas the Adventure and more.
That gives Disney Believe an interesting mix.
If you’ve never sailed with Disney Cruise Line, almost everything will feel new.
If you’re already a Disney Cruise Line fan, you’ll have familiar favorites mixed with experiences you can’t find anywhere else.
Either way, there will be plenty to explore.
Why We’re Excited About Disney Believe for 2027-2028
Choosing a Disney Cruise ship can be difficult because every ship offers something a little different.
But if your family wants to experience the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, Disney Believe makes a pretty convincing case.
You have an Encanto stage show you can’t see on another Disney Cruise ship.
A gorgeous Moana-inspired Grand Hall.
New Disney dining experiences.
Returning fan favorites.
4- and 5-night itineraries.
And a Disney island destination included on every sailing.
It feels like Disney Believe is bringing together some of the best things about a Disney Cruise while still giving families plenty of reasons to experience something completely new.
