Universal Destinations & Experiences has revealed exciting new details for Universal Kids Resort, a family-centered theme retreat opening in 2026 in Frisco, Texas. Uniquely designed for younger adventurers, this resort will bring beloved characters and immersive worlds to life through themed lands, interactive play zones, and sensory spaces.
At the heart of the experience are seven themed lands, each inspired by iconic franchises and built from a child’s perspective:

DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp offers swampy fun with splash zones, rompin’ play areas, and character meet-and-greets with Shrek and Fiona.

DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar lets kids meet Puss, Mama Luna, Perrito, and take on carnival games like Barriles de Leche.

Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club stages a playful rivalry between Yellow and Purple Minions with water-based challenges and interactive areas.

Jurassic World Adventure Camp blends thrills and discovery, from meeting newly hatched dinosaurs to scaling Lookout Towers with panoramic views.

DreamWorks’ TrollsFest pulses with music, colorful play zones like Poppy’s Playland, and glittery meet-and-greet moments with Poppy and Branch.

Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom invites families to stroll through Mussel Beach and splash around at Pineapple Paradise while meeting SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy.

Finally, guests will pass through Isle of Curiosity, a playful entryland where kids may meet Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse and enjoy imaginative interactions.
Beyond themed lands, Universal Kids Resort will feature sensory gardens designed for calm and connection—spaces where children and families may pause, reset, and explore with touch, sound, and color. The resort’s creators emphasize a “child’s lens” in design, with team members encouraging spontaneous creative play, from blowing bubbles to sketching imaginary worlds.
The resort’s 300-room on-site hotel will be colorfully themed and situated right at the park’s entrance, making it easy for families to transition between rest and adventure.
