Our family is currently being hosted at the brand-new Universal Kids Resort Hotel in Frisco, Texas, ahead of the official opening of Universal Kids Resort on July 1, 2026. As one of the first families to experience the property, we’ve had the opportunity to explore the hotel, check out the amenities, and stay in one of the new Deluxe Queen rooms.
If you’re planning a visit to Universal Kids Resort, here’s what you can expect from the resort’s on-site hotel.
Location, Location, Location
One of the biggest advantages of staying at Universal Kids Resort Hotel is that you’re literally steps away from the park entrance. The hotel sits adjacent to the new theme park, making it incredibly easy for families with young children to take breaks throughout the day and return to their room whenever needed. Guests also receive exclusive benefits including Early Park Admission and a dedicated entrance into the park.
For parents who have ever pushed a tired child through a parking lot at the end of a theme park day, this convenience alone is a game changer.
A Hotel Designed for Families
The resort features 300 guest rooms and family suites, all designed specifically with families and younger children in mind. From the colorful décor to the kid-friendly layouts, every space feels built around making family vacations easier and more fun.
The lobby immediately sets the tone with bright colors and playful design elements that create excitement before you even head into the park.
Our Deluxe Queen Room
We’re currently staying in a Deluxe Queen room, and it’s the perfect setup for a family vacation.
At 314 square feet, the room features:
- One queen bed
- Twin-over-full bunk beds
- A kid-friendly bathroom
- Playful themed décor throughout the room
The bunk beds are an instant hit with kids, while parents will appreciate having their own dedicated queen bed. The room feels thoughtfully designed to maximize space without feeling cramped.
Room Categories
Families can choose from several room types depending on their needs:
Standard Queen Room
The entry-level room offers 288 square feet of space and includes one queen bed, a twin-over-full bunk bed, playful décor, and a kid-friendly bathroom.
Deluxe Queen Room
Our room category expands to 314 square feet while maintaining the same family-friendly layout with additional living space.
Signature Queen Room
For families wanting extra room, the Signature Queen offers 424 square feet and includes a separate toilet area within the bathroom for added convenience.
Family Suite
The largest accommodation option measures 486 square feet and features:
- Private king bedroom
- Bunk beds
- Queen pull-out sofa
- Extended living room
- Kid-friendly bathroom
This option is ideal for larger families or multigenerational travel.
Dining Options
Universal designed the hotel with families in mind, including three-meal dining options that cater to everyone from adventurous eaters to picky eaters. The dining venues continue the colorful and energetic atmosphere found throughout the resort, making meal time feel like part of the vacation experience rather than a necessity.
One standout location is Curiosity Café, which serves as one of the hotel’s primary dining venues and gathering spots for families.
Pool & Family Amenities
The hotel’s outdoor pool area provides the perfect place to cool off after a day at the park. Like the rest of the resort, the pool area is designed with families in mind and serves as a relaxing space for both kids and parents.
Additional perks include:
- Early Park Admission
- Dedicated park entrance
- Complimentary merchandise delivery from the park to your hotel
- Accessible room options
- Family-focused amenities throughout the property
Is It Worth Staying On-Site?
After spending time exploring the resort and staying in the Deluxe Queen room, it’s clear that Universal didn’t simply build another hotel—they created an extension of the overall Universal Kids Resort experience.
For families visiting the park, the ability to walk to the entrance, return for mid-day breaks, enjoy Early Park Admission, and stay in rooms specifically designed for kids makes the hotel a compelling option.
With Universal Kids Resort officially opening July 1, this colorful new property is poised to become one of the most family-friendly theme park hotels in Texas.
Stay tuned as we continue exploring the resort and experience the park firsthand during opening celebrations.
