Sometimes the best Walt Disney World vacation isn’t a week packed with park days.
Sometimes it’s a long weekend, a beautiful resort, a King Bed room and the ability to walk over to EPCOT whenever you feel like it.
That’s exactly why Disney’s Yacht Club Resort has become one of our favorite choices for a quick Disney escape.
With its upscale New England-inspired atmosphere, incredible location in the EPCOT Resort area and access to some of the best resort amenities at Walt Disney World, Yacht Club makes it easy to slow down and enjoy Disney a little differently.
And a King Bed room makes a pretty perfect home base.
Inside a King Bed Room at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort offers a more sophisticated take on Disney theming.
Instead of larger-than-life characters around every corner, you’ll find nautical details, classic furnishings and subtle touches of Disney throughout the resort.
That same atmosphere continues into the rooms.
A King Bed room is a great option when you don’t need the additional sleeping arrangements of a larger room and would rather have one comfortable king bed to come back to at the end of the night.
But while we love the room, the biggest selling point of staying at Yacht Club might be everything waiting right outside your door.
The Location Is SO Good
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort sits along Crescent Lake in the EPCOT Resort area, placing you in one of the most walkable areas of Walt Disney World.
Step outside and you have multiple Disney Resorts, restaurants, entertainment and two theme parks nearby.
And one of the biggest perks?
You can walk to EPCOT.
That makes spontaneous EPCOT evenings SO easy.
Spend the morning relaxing at the resort, head to the parks later in the day, grab dinner around World Showcase and stay for the nighttime spectacular.
Then instead of waiting for a bus back to your resort, you can simply walk back to Yacht Club.
Once you’ve experienced the convenience, it’s hard not to love it.
Disney’s BoardWalk Is Right There
Another perk of Yacht Club’s location is having the Disney’s BoardWalk area nearby.
Take a stroll around Crescent Lake, explore the BoardWalk, grab something to eat or simply enjoy the atmosphere along the water.
It’s especially beautiful in the evening when the entire area comes alive.
And because you don’t need theme park admission to enjoy the resorts and BoardWalk area, it gives you even more to do on arrival days, departure days or evenings when you don’t want to visit a park.
You’re Close to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Too
EPCOT isn’t the only theme park conveniently located nearby.
Guests at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort also have convenient access to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with walking and water transportation options available.
For a shorter trip, this location can be a major advantage.
Instead of spending a significant portion of your vacation traveling between your resort and the parks, you have two theme parks practically in your backyard.
Don’t Forget to Actually Enjoy the Resort
When you’re staying somewhere like Yacht Club, don’t make the mistake of spending every waking minute away from your hotel.
Give yourself some resort time!
Sleep in.
Have a slower breakfast.
Walk around Crescent Lake.
Spend an afternoon by the pool.
Head into EPCOT later instead of feeling like you need to be there first thing in the morning.
Walt Disney World vacations don’t always need to be go, go, go.
Sometimes having fewer plans actually makes the vacation better.
And Then There’s Stormalong Bay
Of course, one of the biggest reasons to build resort time into your stay is Stormalong Bay.
Shared by Disney’s Yacht Club and neighboring Beach Club Resort, this expansive pool area is one of the most impressive resort pool experiences at Walt Disney World.
It’s the kind of amenity that makes scheduling an afternoon away from the parks feel like part of the vacation rather than time you’re “missing” somewhere else.
If you’re paying to stay at a Deluxe Disney Resort, take advantage of what comes with it!
This Could Be the Perfect EPCOT Festival Home Base
Yacht Club becomes even more appealing if your trip overlaps with one of EPCOT’s festivals.
Imagine checking in for a long weekend and being able to walk over to EPCOT whenever you’re ready.
Try festival food.
Grab a drink.
Explore World Showcase.
Catch the entertainment.
Stay for the evening.
Then walk back to your resort.
There’s no need to make every day a marathon park day when so much of what you want to experience is right nearby.
Our Ideal Yacht Club Long Weekend
If we were planning a quick getaway here, we’d keep the itinerary pretty simple.
Arrival Day: Check into Yacht Club, explore the resort and spend the evening around Crescent Lake and Disney’s BoardWalk.
Day Two: Enjoy a slow morning and some pool time before walking over to EPCOT for the afternoon and evening.
Day Three: Spend the morning enjoying the resort before heading over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Departure Day: Grab breakfast, take one last walk around Crescent Lake and immediately start talking about when you’re coming back. 😂
Of course, you could add Magic Kingdom, another EPCOT day, dining reservations or more resort time depending on your priorities.
That’s the beauty of it.
Your Disney vacation doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.
