Hey Travellers,
Are you looking for the perfect family-friendly activities in Walt Disney World? We have found a Hidden GEM in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
Once you get into Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, head over to Harambe Village in Africa! To the right of the Kilimanjaro Safari, you will see a sign that says “Rafiki’s Planet Watch” and that is where you’ll want to be. Underneath that sign, you will find a train that takes you to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. The train ride itself is a hidden gem as you are taken backstage where they keep the animals when they are not out on the Savannah.
Once the train pulls up, follow the path and you will find yourself in a PETTING ZOO! That’s right, there is a petting zoo inside Walt Disney World! There are a variety of animals in the petting zoo, including cows, sheep, goats and pigs! There are also brushes located around the petting zoo if you wish to brush their coats instead of stroking them with your hands. Around the enclosure, you’ll also see cast members who are happy to answer any questions you have about the animals so this can definitely be an educational experience for the entire family. Once you’ve petted to your hearts content, don’t forget to wash your hands at the designated hand washing station at the exit of the petting zoo.
Another activity at Rafiki’s Planet Watch is the “Animation Experience” where guests can enjoy a FREE animation class with a Disney Animation Expert! There are multiple sketch times each day, and usually the character will change on each session or switch between a few different characters. While we were there, we learnt how to sketch Flik from A Bugs Life! Plus you get to take the artwork home with you, so this is also a great entertaining activity the family can participate in all together!
