Hey Travellers,
We attended the very first night of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) on August 11th, 2023 and we are here to share our tips and tricks with you to make sure you have the most enjoyable visit! Here are our Top 7 Tips:
Tip 1: Purchase your ticket in advance.
Our first tip for visiting MNSSHP is to purchase your ticket in advance. Tickets can be purchased up until the day of the event, but the majority of the parties do sell out so we would not recommend waiting. Our advice is to book as soon as you are able to, in order to secure a space at the party!
Tip 2: Use your ticket to enter early!
Even though MNSSHP starts at 7:00pm, your party ticket actually allows you entry from 4:00pm before the park closes to regular guests! We highly recommend utilising this benefit and arriving at Magic Kingdom as early as you possibly can. During this time, we advise you to get a bite to eat and ride any of the attractions that will be closed during the party.
Tip 3: Meet the Popular Characters before the party begins!
The party exclusive characters are one of the big benefits about attending MNSSHP, however they often have extremely long wait times. One of the perks about your ticket allowing you into the park early, is that you’re able to meet some of the characters before the party begins! Jack Skellington and Sally usually start meeting around 4:30pm and Elvis Stitch around 6:30pm. This is a great option if you wish to meet these characters as it doesn’t cut into your party time!
Tip 4: Make a Plan
Making a plan is vital to attending MNSSHP. There is so much to do at the parties, and only so many hours to enjoy it. From the exclusive character meet and greets, entertainment, trick or treat’in, Halloween Ride overlays and spooktacular food and beverage options – you’ll want to prioritise which things are more important to you. There are multiple times to watch the parade and the Hocus Pocus castle show, so make sure you plan accordingly.
Tip 5: Watch the 2nd Boo to You Parade!
There are two showings of the Boo to You Parade and the 2nd one is always less busy! If you’re able to watch the later parade, we’d highly recommend doing so as you’ll be able to have a better view without waiting for a long period of time. If you decide to watch the 2nd parade, just make sure to check the weather forecast for the evening. If it looks like poor weather, then definitely watch the 1st parade so you don’t miss it!
Tip 6: Do the Halloween Party Exclusives!
Unless the party is the only time you’ll be spending at Magic Kingdom, you should focus your time on doing things that you can only do during the party such as:
- Trick-or-Treat’in
- Meeting Rare Characters
- Seeing the Boo To You Parade
- Watching Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular (fireworks extravaganza)
- Trying Halloween Party Exclusive Food and Beverages
- Shopping the Halloween Party Exclusive Merchandise
- Seeing the Hocus Pocus Villian Spelltacular Castle Show
- Riding the attractions with the special Halloween Overlays:
- Mad Tea Party, Space Mountain, Monsters Inc.
We do not recommend dining at a restaurant during your party visit. It takes up too much time and if you have other days visiting Magic Kingdom, you can do it then!
Tip 7: Wear a Costume (and dress accordingly)!
Wearing a costume is optional at MNSSHP however it is encouraged for both children and adults! We think it is really fun to wear a costume, especially if you find something that the entire family can wear. It’s so exciting to enter the Magic Kingdom and spot everyone’s different outfits. If you’re not into wearing a costume, you can try “Disney Bounding” (Google this if you’re unsure). Whatever you choose to wear, we advise you to dress accordingly. It will be HOT. Florida is exceptionally warm at this time of year, and you’d be surprised at the temperatures (even if you attend in October/November!).
