Planning a Disney Cruise with a baby and wondering if you’ll have enough room for everyone AND all the baby gear?
We recently spent five nights aboard the Disney Fantasy in a Standard Verandah Stateroom with two adults and a baby, and we were pleasantly surprised by just how spacious and functional our room felt!
Between the sleeping arrangements, two bathrooms, generous storage space and thoughtful amenities for little ones, Disney Cruise Line really makes traveling with a baby easier than you might expect.
And if you’re wondering whether you need to upgrade to a larger stateroom when traveling with young children, we’re sharing everything you need to know about our experience!
How Many People Can Sleep in a Disney Fantasy Verandah Stateroom?
One of the biggest questions families have when booking a Disney Cruise is whether everyone will have enough space to sleep comfortably.
Our stateroom featured several sleeping arrangements, making it a great option for families with young children.
Here’s what our room included:
- One king-size bed
- One couch that converts into a twin-size bed
- One additional twin-size bed that pulls down from the ceiling
- One Pack ‘n Play for our baby
While we only needed the main bed and Pack ‘n Play for our family of three, having additional sleeping options makes this type of stateroom worth considering for families traveling with older children, too.
The convertible couch provides an additional sleeping space without permanently taking up extra room during the day.
And the pull-down bed stays tucked away when it’s not being used!
For families with younger children sleeping on the convertible couch, you can also request a bed rail or bumper to help prevent them from rolling out of bed.
Just keep in mind that exact sleeping configurations and maximum occupancy can vary by stateroom, so it’s important to select a room that accommodates your entire family.
Disney Cruise Line Provides a Pack ‘n Play AND Diaper Genie!
This might be one of our favorite things about sailing with a baby on Disney Cruise Line.
We didn’t have to bring our own Pack ‘n Play!
Before our cruise, we requested one through the Disney Cruise Line Website, and it was provided for our stateroom.
We also had a Diaper Genie, which was incredibly convenient throughout our five-night sailing.
If you’ve ever traveled with a baby, you know how quickly all the extra gear adds up.
Between diapers, wipes, bottles, a stroller, clothing and everything else, the last thing you want is to pack another bulky item if you don’t have to.
Having these baby essentials available onboard made packing and settling into our room much easier.
Our tip: Request your Pack ‘n Play ahead of time through the Disney Cruise Line app rather than waiting until you’re onboard. Baby amenities are subject to availability.
The Storage Space Was Surprisingly Impressive!
Let’s talk about something that can make or break a family cruise stateroom.
STORAGE!
When you’re traveling with a baby, you’re bringing a lot more than just a suitcase.
And we were honestly impressed by how many places there were to unpack and organize our belongings.
Our Disney Fantasy stateroom had plenty of drawers, shelves and other storage areas, allowing us to unpack everything instead of living out of our suitcases for five days.
There were also two closet spaces with plenty of hangers available, which made organizing everyone’s clothes easy.
We loved being able to hang up our outfits, put everything away and actually feel settled into our room.
And once we were finished unpacking?
We stored our suitcases underneath the main bed!
This freed up so much floor space and kept the room from feeling cluttered.
Yes, We Even Fit Our Travel Stroller Under the Bed!
If you’re cruising with a baby or toddler, you’re probably wondering where you’re supposed to keep your stroller when you’re not using it.
We brought a travel stroller that folded down compactly, and we were able to store it underneath our bed along with our luggage!
This was SUCH a convenient feature.
Instead of leaving the stroller parked in the middle of the room or taking up space near the couch, we could simply fold it up and slide it under the bed whenever we were finished using it.
It kept our stateroom organized and gave us more room to move around.
Of course, whether your stroller will fit depends on its folded dimensions, but if you’re bringing a compact travel stroller, it’s definitely worth checking.
Our tip: If you’re planning to bring a stroller on your Disney Cruise, consider one that folds compactly and is easy to carry through the ship.
The Split Bathrooms Are a Game Changer for Families
Another feature we absolutely loved about our Disney Fantasy stateroom was the split bathroom layout.
Instead of having one traditional cruise ship bathroom, our room had two separate bathroom spaces.
Bathroom #1: A toilet and sink.
Bathroom #2: A shower and sink.
This might not seem like a huge deal until you’re trying to get multiple people ready at the same time!
One person can shower while someone else brushes their teeth or uses the other bathroom.
And when you’re traveling with a baby, having that extra flexibility makes the morning and bedtime routines so much easier.
It’s a small detail that makes a BIG difference when you’re sharing a stateroom.
Is a Verandah Worth It When Cruising With a Baby?
One of the reasons we chose a verandah stateroom was having access to our own private outdoor space.
A verandah gives you somewhere to step outside, enjoy the ocean views and relax without leaving your room.
And when you’re traveling with a baby who still needs naps and an earlier bedtime, having a private balcony can be especially appealing.
You can enjoy some fresh air and beautiful views while your little one is resting inside.
It’s also a great place to enjoy a quiet morning before heading out to explore the ship.
Of course, a verandah is not a necessity for every family. An inside or oceanview stateroom might be a better fit depending on your budget and preferences.
But if you love the idea of having your own outdoor space during your cruise, it’s definitely an upgrade worth considering.
Important: Always supervise children on a verandah and follow Disney Cruise Line’s balcony safety guidelines.
Did Our Room Feel Crowded With a Pack ‘n Play?
This was something we wondered about before our cruise.
Even though we were only traveling with three people, a Pack ‘n Play, stroller, luggage and baby essentials can take up quite a bit of space.
But surprisingly, we never felt like we were running out of room!
Being able to unpack our belongings, utilize both closets and store our luggage and stroller underneath the bed made a huge difference.
Instead of having suitcases scattered around the room, everything had a place.
And because the additional beds weren’t being used during our sailing, we had plenty of space to move around.
For our family of three, the Standard Verandah Stateroom worked wonderfully.
Tips for Booking a Disney Cruise Stateroom With a Baby
After spending five nights aboard the Disney Fantasy, there are a few things we’d recommend to other families preparing for their first Disney Cruise with a little one.
1. Request baby essentials before sailing.
We requested our Pack ‘n Play ahead of time through the Disney Cruise Line app. You can also ask about other available baby amenities, including a diaper disposal unit.
2. Bring a compact travel stroller.
Our folded stroller fit underneath the bed, which helped keep the room organized throughout our cruise.
3. Unpack your suitcases when you arrive.
With so many drawers, shelves and closet spaces available, unpacking makes the room feel much more spacious.
4. Take advantage of the split bathrooms.
Having two separate bathroom spaces is incredibly helpful when multiple people are getting ready.
5. Consider your family’s sleeping arrangements.
If you’re traveling with older children, ask about convertible sofas, pull-down beds and available bed rails. Sleeping configurations vary by stateroom.
6. Think about whether a verandah fits your vacation style.
For families who anticipate spending more time in their room during naps or early bedtimes, having private outdoor space can be a nice bonus.
Would We Book This Disney Fantasy Stateroom Again?
Absolutely!
For our family of two adults and a baby, the Standard Verandah Stateroom aboard the Disney Fantasy was comfortable, functional and had everything we needed for our five-night vacation.
The storage space was one of our favorite surprises, especially being able to fit both our luggage and folded travel stroller underneath the bed.
We also appreciated the convenience of the split bathrooms, two closets and the baby amenities Disney provided.
And having a private verandah made the experience even better.
If you’re considering taking a Disney Cruise with a baby but you’re worried about fitting everyone and everything into one stateroom, our experience is proof that you might have more space than you think!
