Hey Travellers,
Yesterday we attended the opening day of Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, 2023 at Walt Disney World. We love the Epcot Festivals and get excited to see what is new! Below is what we have tried so far this year:
Brew-Wing at the Odyssey:
These items are all new this year and they were…interesting. Up first is our 2023 festival favourite so far, Impossible Chicken Tenders. If I didn’t know these were Impossible – I’d have thought it was regular Chicken. They were SO delicious with so much flavour! The hot sauce on the top truly makes this dish. Next we have the Pickle Milkshake…yep you heard right, PICKLES! I was very reluctant to try this because I do not like pickles, but it actually wasn’t too bad. The smell and initial taste is definitely of Pickles, but then it just tastes like ice cream.. it was very sweet plus you get to keep the cup! Our final item from this booth were the Unnecessarily Spicy, Yet Extremely Tasty Scotch Bonnet Pepper-Curry Wings. I wish I had liked these, I love spicy foods but these made me cry! I only had two bites and my eyes were streaming and my mouth/tongue were on fire. Way too spicy for me, but if you’re an extreme heat/spice lover you might enjoy them!
Mexico:
Mexico always has some delicious options. First up, we have the Taco De Castillo. The meat on its own was not very flavourful but when you got a bite with the Guacamole/Cilanto it was extremely delicious. It is a very small portion though. The drink I tried was the Fly Away Margarita. This was very strong for such a small serving and tasted good. It was quite smoky though so if you’re more of a sweet margarita kind of person, maybe steer clear of this one.
Italy:
Italy always has some amazing options, and this year is no different. Up first we have the Cavatelli. I’d highly recommend this dish, the sauce was very cheesy and creamy, and the pasta was soft and delicious. The Italian Margarita is a consistent favourite of mine. Super refreshing, perfect for these hot Summer Florida Days. The consistency is the same as a Slushy. Lastly, I tried the Lemon-Ricotta Cheesecake. This was absolutely incredible. The strawberries on top paired so well with the Cheesecake – will most definitely be trying this again.
Spain:
New this year, The Sangria Flight had a line of its own due to how popular it was. I can definitely confirm it is worth the wait. The Red Sangria was my personal favourite but I did enjoy all three of them.
Flavors of America:
Another new dish to this year’s festival, the Chilaquiles! One of my favourites so far, the Chicken was well seasoned, the egg was perfectly cooked and the creme on top made the whole dish come together.
Greece:
As a lover of Greece and Greek Foods, every year we try something from this booth, and every year we are extremely disappointed. Even though I am a Meat Eater, I love to try Impossible Option because sometimes they are even tastier than regular meat. New to Greece this year is the Impossible Moussaka. It wasn’t terrible but I’d much rather choose something from another stand.
The Fry Basket:
Returning from last year’s festival, The Fry Flight which is a serving of three different types of Fries: Sea Salt and Malt Vinegar, BBQ Bacon with Smoked Aioli, and Sweet Potato Casserole Fries. I’d definitely recommend these, especially if you haven’t tried them before. It’s a flight where everyone will find something they like. You can also just place separate orders of each type of fry if you would prefer. This booth is located near Test Track.
Flavors of Fire:
Another returner, The Impossible Slider is back! I have been getting this for three years now, and I promise it is delicious. It is quite spicy so make sure you’re aware of that before ordering. I always get so excited seeing this on the menu each year.
Festival Merchandise:
As always, this year’s Food and Wine Festival comes with its own exclusive merchandise including Loungeflys, Ears, Glasses, Hats and more! Here is a sneak peek at some of those items available to purchase.
Epcot International Food and Wine Festival takes place until November 18th, with more Festival Booths opening in September so we have plenty of time to enjoy this Festival, and we will be back to update you on what we have tried, and which items are our favourites.
